Charity in Islam
Charity, also known as "Zakat", is one of the five pillars of Islam and therefore an essential part of our religion. Muslims are required to donate a portion of their wealth to those in need as a way of fulfilling their religious and social obligations. Charity is important in Islam for several reasons:
Firstly, it is an act of worship, gratitude and obedience to Allah SWT. It is a way of expressing one's faith and showing love for our fellow human beings.
Secondly, charity is an act of purification. By donating a portion of our wealth, we are purifying our souls and protect ourselves from the negative effects of greed and materialism. It is a way of achieving spiritual and moral growth by detaching oneself from worldly possessions and focusing on the greater good.
Finally, charity is a way of promoting social justice and equality in Islam. Muslims are encouraged to give to those in need, regardless of their race, religion or social status. By doing so, we are helping to alleviate poverty and reduce the gap between the rich and the poor.
In summary, charity is a fundamental aspect of Islam that plays a vital role in our faith and spirituality. It is an act of worship, purification, and social justice, and it is considered a way of expressing one's faith and fulfilling one's religious and social obligations.
Our approach at Latifa
At Latifa, supporting selected charitable projects is part of our philosophy. In August 2026, we are supporting New Life Home Trust in Kenya. The organisation operates children's homes in Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru and Nyeri, providing protection, care and support for abandoned and especially vulnerable children.
We donate 5% of the profit generated in August 2026. Profit means the amount remaining after actual operating costs. The final amount will be calculated after month-end and transferred to New Life Home Trust.
Transparency status: The donation is pledged for August 2026. We will publish the transfer or donation receipt on this page as soon as payment has been made.
Project of the month: August 2026
New Life Home Trust cares for abandoned and especially vulnerable children in four homes across Kenya. Latifa will donate 5% of the August 2026 profit after operating costs. The donation receipt will be published here after the month-end transfer.
